Nice Ink...

I attended my orientation at the Art Institute of San Antonio on Wednesday.  I LOVED it.  No surprise there.  I have always enjoyed school.  I listened to the lecture about school policies, which includes no phones in class.   I will miss my phone during class--I cannot lie.  I bought all my supplies.  I got my student ID.

I thought to myself, "I have this--no one has any idea that I am 50, something-ish."  Just then the young man-in front of me-and I mean YOUNG,  turned around and said, "Nice ink" .  He was talking to the girl beside me.  She was covered in tattoos.  I knew that the ink was a "sleeve", and I knew right then that he really knew that I was 50, something-ish.

Before I left for school that morning I took a photo of my camera.  She and I will be spending a lot of time together.  I think she needs a name......

My camera needs a name.

And so it begins.....

It seems impossible that I have arrived at this juncture in my life. A new adventure, the most amazing gift. Next week I will start work on a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Digital Photography. It is a crazy, exciting, improbable and nerve-wracking opportunity. Stay tuned for the details. I intend to explore and celebrate photography and share the ups and downs of student life as a non-traditional (AKA OLD) student.  I hope to inspire others to follow their dreams, and to pick up a camera. This new world of technology has certainly rocked my world....and addled my brain.

Thank you Kim Anderson for this "Back to School" memory.
